Dr. Sergio Lira at a Glance
My field of expertise is urban education in public schools (PreK-12). An accomplished, energetic, and creative educator. I place great emphasis on two-way communication and building positive relationships. I have over 30 years of serving my community in many capacities as a bilingual transformational agent. Here are a few examples: former Houston ISD Board Member, Founder and Vice President of Timonel Foundation (awards annual scholarships to students who are active in their parishes or church community), a public-school educator for 28 years, received a doctorate in Urban Educational Policy from the University of Houston, and former parish council president for two terms at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Preparing all students for a career or college and advocating for equity of resources for their future is my life-long mission.
